Bowlers runup marking PDF Print E-mail

As we all have noticed over the last couple of weeks the condition of the playing surface up at Chalkwell Park is deteriorating.
The warm weather combined with Football players have all been contributing factors to this, but so have we as cricketers.
When bowlers mark out their runups the normal tendency is to scratch a mark in the ground. Unfortunately these marks aren't reparing as we would like and some have been dug out further by foxes and dogs and become divots, these are dangerous for the fielding team for 2 reasons. Players can easily roll an ankle in them and when the ball hits them it may cause it to bounce in an awkward manor.
I have purchased a can of white spray paint for ALL bowlers (including the opposition) to use to mark out their runups. A simple white line with a small initial to identify it is all that is needed and should be done prior to the start of the game. This will stop us creating more divots and hopefully helping to inprove at least the infield of our Cricket Ground. If for some reason your runup changes during the game, please use bowling markers that most umpires will supply!
The can is to be kept in the Cupboard that contains the deck chairs and is to be replaced before the start of play!

Do the right thing and make L.O.S CC and safer and more enjoyable place to play cricket.

Good Luck this weekend to all sides!
